This is your business -- work to promote responsible beverage service at your establishment and within the community. Creating partnerships with university officials, law enforcement and other community leaders can be accomplished through volunteering to participate on a local coalition or task force. For example, law enforcement officers may be willing to assist in training staff related to responsible beverage service, including sales to underage, sales to intoxicated patrons, fake IDs and de-escalation techniques for handling "problem" patrons.

Take the opportunity to actively participate in your restaurant and/or tavern association. Step up to a leadership role in developing standards for responsible retail practices at establishments licensed to sell alcohol. Work with other retailers to ensure a high standard and celebrate successful efforts in the local newspaper and other media outlets.
